DIY Coffee Table from Pallets

I made this coffee table from 2 pallets

I found this pallet outside of a hardware store and thought I could make something out if it.

Then after dropping off a piece of equipment at a rental store they had two other pallets that each had 2 pieces of a 4X4.

I cut down the sides a little bit then screwed the 4X4 legs to the frame.  But before I got to this point I thought of a few different ways to build this.

pallet legs
pallet legs on the inside the of pallet frame
legs sitting on the outside of the pallet frame

In the top 4 pics I placed pallets as legs on both the inside and outside of the frame for the pallet top.  Instead of either of these locations I decided to go with the 4 individual legs.  Leave your thoughts in the facebook group.

Really tough to see in this image but this is the after pic with the clear epoxy coat.

This was the first time I've worked with epoxy and I did a really bad job...lol

The epoxy went through a lot of the screw holes and ended up on the table top totally destroying the top.  Not to mention the fact that I wasted half of the coating...lol  Oh well...this is how we learn.

The legs came from the same pallets as the above pieces I was trying out as legs.  This was a fantastic find!

I painted all of these with a clear high gloss coat of paint.  I actually used a Tremclad that is meant for metal.  The only reason I did this was that was sitting in my paint cupboard...lol...Normally I would use this paint only for metal that I wanted people to see the copper or the black iron projects that I work on.  But in this case it turned out pretty good.

I gave this coffee table to my daughter and she loves it!
